All the things...
As a creative, or a housewife, or someone who works full time, I know in my heart you’ll “get” this. All. The. Things. All the things that need to be done on a daily basis - around the house, with our families, with our businesses. It seems never ending. And often times, the things we want to do for ourselves may never get done. It’s time to change that! I decided to write a blog post and actually work on my website twice monthly sending out emails about 6 months ago. Yep - this is the first ( 6 months later), because, you know - all the things. What I’ve discovered though - is it’s not selfish to make time for ourselves. I find I’m a better person for it and I bet you are too! More creative. More relaxed. Even more organized - at least I am! I try, as an artist building a business to try and do something creative every day - even if it’s just for twenty minutes on top of “all the things”.. Many times - it’s just sitting and doodling. No masterpiece expected!
I have lots going on in the Fall and am trying to be organized and stay on top of ALL OF IT! Some days it’s a fail. But I wanted to give you a heads up ;).
In September I had a piece being auctioned off at Keuka Lakes - it’s one of New York’s Finger lakes and wine country. I painted a large pink floral paint pallet. It was a great experience and I plan on doing it again as I was already invited back!
In October, I am a guest artist featured in The Manos Gallery. The theme is all things Pittsburgh. I've been busy painting Pgh themed art - a Roberto Clemente portrait, Santa in a Steelers Cap, A Pittsburgh skyline abstract and another one using only black, gold, white and a touch of blue paint and finally a skyline ornament piece. It was a lot of fun coming up different concepts to fit the bill!
In November, I’m continuing at The Manos Gallery with a new theme titled The Art our Dreams Create and will be at The Unique Boutique Holiday Shopping Spree in Sewickley held at The Edgeworth Club on November 12 from 10-4. I will have a variety of pieces of art - along with other goodies like my art printed on beach towels, mugs, jewelry, leather cross body bags and prints of some popular pieces of art. I’m really excited about this and if you’re in the area hope to see you there!
Then December - along with my pet portrait and Holiday commissions, I’m again in The Manos Gallery! December’s Theme is The Myth of Beauty. This Gallery is located in Tarentum, Pa. If you haven’t been there, grab your partner and make a date of it! Thursday, November 17 is Light Up Night - stop by and see the beauty of the town!
But, putting all of this aside, I want to encourage you to take time for yourself - especially since the Holiday hustle is getting under way. Read a book, listen to some music, go out with your friends or try your hand at one of my favorite past times - doodling! All you need is a pen or pencil, a piece of paper and an open mind.
Below are some samples of some of the art I just talked about and what you’ll see in Sewickley - I hope you enjoy them!
As always, thank you so much for your support and if you have a special request or see something you like - please reach out!
